About

I’m Kathleen Seidel, proprietor of Portable Imagery Gallery and Superluminal’s Portable Imagery on Zazzle. I’m a librarian by training, a onetime bookseller, writer, researcher, and web creator. My online work includes Serving the Guest: Food for Remembrance, a cookbook with essays on food, eating, meals and hospitality in Sufism, the mystical tradition of Islam. I’m also the author of the autism resource and advocacy portal Neurodiversity.com, and Neurodiversity Weblog (now viewable on Archive.org), where you’ll find many opinionated essays, letters, and investigative reports on autism and disability.

Superluminal’s Portable Imagery offers merchandise adorned with artwork, illustrations, text, bindings and endpapers from books, manuscripts, prints and objects in the collections of the world’s great libraries and museums. All design sources are in the public domain, and come from Archive.org, Wikimedia Foundation, Biodiversity Heritage Library, The Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the World Digital Library, Wikimedia, the University of Wisconsin, and many other educational and cultural institutions that preserve and disseminate the world’s cultural heritage online.

Portable Imagery Gallery serves as a companion website to Superluminal’s Portable Imagery. Here I’ll be publishing albums of illustrations from whatever work happens to appeal to me. I welcome you to visit and scoop up images to your heart’s content.

This website is the fruit of hundreds of hours of research, image editing and development. I have, however, sought to keep on Portable Imagery clear of the clutter and plague of randomized advertising. The only ads you will find here lead to Superluminal’s Portable Imagery or to related merchandise and searches on Amazon.com.

If you enjoy what you find here, please fill a basket at Superluminal’s Portable Imagery on Zazzle, check out our featured titles on Amazon.com, or simply click through one of our Amazon search links next time you plan to do any shopping there.
